PRESENTATION: Designing the Unexpected - a journey through hotel, cultural, office and restaurant spaces
    Founder of LIKEarchitects, Portugal

Diogo Aguiar is one of the principal architects of LIKEarchitects.

He received his degree in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture at University of Porto and he has practiced architecture with Ben Van Berkel in UNStudio in Amsterdam.

He co-established LIKEarchitects in 2010, an award-winning practice focused on the design of ephemeral architectural objects and on socially relevant international competitions. LIKEarchitects’ proposed architecture, which is attentive to the current socio-economic situation, aims to boost places and involve the community in a critical participation of urban space, having Installation, Happening and Urban Art as daily references.

Currently, and beyond the pop-up architectural strategy that has been practiced regularly, LIKEarchitects are preparing a television program about the use of colour on spatial interventions for the cable TV channel 180 (exclusively dedicated to arts and culture) and an itinerary workshop on the experimental nature of ephemeral architectural structures.

LIKEarchitects’ work has been published both in national and international architectural magazines and books, and they have been invited to give workshops, lectures and interviews all over the world.

Diogo is also the co-author of Eco-Resort Pedras Salgadas, built in 2012, and recently awarded the ‘Archdaily Building of the Year 2012’ in the ‘Hotels and Restaurants’ category.

Diogo has also written articles for national publications.
