“Office Building Reci”
Description of the project

The project is the first office building in Romania on a sturdy wood CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) and on stratified wood, being also the largest building with this kind of construction system in the Southeast Europe. With a surface of approximately 1700 mp, the building is developed on two levels. Due to its innovative wood structure, the disposal of the first floor perpendicular to the ground was possible, thus obtaining two long brackets and circulated green terraces. The offices benefit from bright spaces due to the generous surfaces of glazing, and the skylight in conjunction with the gap on the two floors above the reception, allows the deep entrance of the natural light in the heart of the building.

The compliance of the building on the wooden structure, the insulation, the sealing, the performance of the carpentry, the green terraces, all these elements collaborate to the achievement of a sustainable building, and, from an energetic point of view, a building with a high performance. The building was developed together with Saint Gobain as a pilot project for the Multi-Comfort House (MCH) standard in order to show the expertise of the partners that were involved in the project in terms of fire safety, thermal and acoustic protection, getting a healthy, comfortable interior environment and a greater autonomy of operation.

Sergiu Petrea works in the team of Tecto Arhitectura where he addresses sustainable architecture and the compliance of the performance of the buildings, from an energetic point of view. The office’s activity is also concerned with themes related to strategies of urban regeneration, experiments and technologies. His architectural practice includes buildings from all the areas of expertise, interior design and architecture contests. He constantly attends at international congresses and conferences and he is also involved in research projects.
